Event Description:

This year’s Shared Values Conversations, inspired by the recent Brookings Institute report, “From Commitment to Action: How CEOs Can Advance Racial Equity in their Regional Economies”, will feature a simple three-part framework and emerging models for how business leaders can make meaningful progress toward a more equitable regional economy.

This session will open with Amy Liu, Director of the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program and co-author of the report, to discuss the framework for action, key learnings, and Richmond region data on topics like racial representation in tech and management roles, business ownership and racial wealth gaps.

The session will follow with Rodney Sampson, Senior Brookings Fellow and Founder & CEO, Opportunity Hub, who has worked with startups, scale-ups and large firms ensuring that diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is operationalized across their businesses and company cultures. He will share his solutions audit that helps organizations review the extent to which DEI is present in issue areas ranging from corporate governance, to human resources and procurement, to community impact.

Join the conversation and learn how to use your role as a business leader to advance equity, starting from the inside by assessing your business practices.
