THIS EVENT:
Negotiation skills can be learned! Whether you are trying to influence others inside your own organization or dealing with customers and suppliers on the outside, you can build tools that are helpful in finding a solution. We know a substantial amount about what separates successful negotiators from average negotiators. Large differences exist in how they prepare and how they perform. This interactive session will provide practical tips for boosting confidence and achieving better outcomes in both formal and informal negotiations.
Richard Coughlan has served for more than 20 years on the management faculty of the University of Richmond, where he teaches courses on negotiations, ethics and decision-making to audiences ranging from undergraduates to chief executives. He is also a keynote speaker, facilitator and strategic advisor for corporate and non-profit clients across the mid-Atlantic region.
Richard arrived at Richmond after completing both an MBA and a Ph.D. in judgment and decision making at the University of Arizona. Prior to graduate school, he spent nearly five years in the hotel industry, culminating with a position on the management team at The Pebble Beach Resorts in California.
Coughlan currently serves on the board of directors at Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia and is a past president of Association for Corporate Growth-Richmond. He also hosts a pair of interview series: C-Suite Conversations, featuring monthly on-stage interviews with senior executives in front of live audiences, and Dialogue on Decision Making, a weekly podcast with guests from a variety of industries.
Light hors d'oevres will be provided at the event.
