Join HYPE at the Robins-Starr Humane Center to learn about the Richmond SPCA.
The Richmond SPCA is a nonprofit, no-kill humane society in our community that has been saving the lives of animals and advocating for the compassionate treatment and best interests of all species of animals since 1891. It stands for the principle that every life is precious by saving the lives of about 4,000 homeless companion animals each year, providing extensive veterinary medical treatment and behavioral rehabilitation to the vast majority of those animals, and operating our community’s only full-service, low-cost veterinary hospital for the pets of people of modest means, among other programs and services for the animals and people of our community. The Richmond SPCA has been a national leader of the no-kill movement since its inception and is a strong and respected voice in the Virginia General Assembly for legislation to make Virginia a more humane state.
Hear from Robin Starr about the history of the Richmond SPCA. Following Robin's presentation, a group of staff members will answer questions from the group. Lastly, there will be an opportunity to tour the facilities.
