HYPE dives right into the topic of leadership to kick off the new year! You’ll have access to three events over the course of three months with the overarching theme of leadership as it relates to the community, your career and company, and politics. 

These three workshops will take you on a series of discovery by understanding intrinsic motivation to serve your community, learning how to lead in a corporate environment and getting a glimpse into local political leadership.

For this first event, we’ll be hearing from Vanessa Diamond, Senior Vice President of Civic Innovations at Community Foundation for a greater Richmond. Vanessa works with a coalition of community organizers, business leaders, institutions of higher education and government entities to help create a better ecosystem for civic engagement initiatives across our region. 

Vanessa will take us on a journey from understanding what your intrinsic passions are to figuring out how those align with community resources and opportunities for giving. You’ll learn about different ways to give with your time, money and talent and gain insight into how to get the most out of volunteering from a networking and professional perspective. We’ve invited several local non-profit organizations that have boards for YPs to serve on, and you’ll have an opportunity after Vanessa presents to learn more about those organizations. 

We’ll also have a special guest (and former HYPE speaker!), Becky Crump, joining us to speak briefly about a new RVA initiative, The Giving Wall.
