Name:
Book Drive
Date:
March 16, 2017 - May 19, 2017
Event Description:
The Henrico Business Council Workforce Development Committee is happy to partner with the Henrico Education Foundation to host a book drive benefiting the students of Henrico County Schools. We are accepting new and gently used books of reading level pre-K to high school at various drop-off locations around town. The books will be distributed to students and schools of low-income communities.
Studies have shown that the book to child ratio in medium income households is 15 books for every 1 child. In low-income areas the ratio is closer to 1 book for every 300 students. The disparity in access to reading material contributes to low-income students falling behind grade level.
Doing any spring cleaning this year? Get rid of your books at one of the locations below.
If you are interested in collecting books within your own organization, please contact geoff.zindren@chamberrva.com to get involved.
