Name: ALL SESSIONS: Shared Values Conversations
Date: July 15, 2021
Time: 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM EDT
Registration: Sorry, public registration for this event has been closed.
Event Description:

Early this year, ChamberRVA wrapped its inaugural Shared Values Summit. This summer, we?re continuing the conversation to help move our region forward in a more intentional and equitable way.

Our next series of programs is inspired by the recent Brookings Institute report, ?From Commitment to Action: How CEOs Can Advance Racial Equity in their Regional Economies?. Business leaders have stepped up their support for communities of color, but these actions are now going further and extending beyond philanthropy ? to changing internal business practices, catalyzing transformational projects with other CEOs, and working through civic and community organizations to advance inclusive economic growth.

The conversations will kick-off with Amy Liu, Director of the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program and co-author of the report, to discuss the report?s key learnings, and Richmond region data and opportunities. We?ll follow by featuring emerging models across the country that are cited in the report and align with its three-part framework for action.

Additional speakers include:

? Rodney Sampson, Senior Brookings Fellow and Founder & CEO, Opportunity Hub, who will discuss a seven-part strategy for operationalizing diversity, equity and inclusion across business and company culture.

? Julia Stasch, Senior Advisor, Denean Pillar-Jackson, Founding Executive Director of the Chicago Resiliency Network, and Eric Patton, Senior Advisor, about the Coalition?s mission and three initiatives: the Chicago Resiliency Network, the EPIC (Equity Products for Investing in Communities) and the Corporate Connector.

? JB Holston, CEO of the Greater Washington Partnership about their plan (with performance indicators) to close the racial wealth gap and make the Capital Region ? including Richmond ? the nation?s leading economic engine of shared prosperity.

The private sector is looking beyond shareholder interests and recognizing the needs of diverse customers, employees, suppliers, and communities as critical to long-term success.

Join the conversation to learn about how move from ?commitment to action,? and be inspired new and innovative models that business leaders are advancing across the country.
