Name: ALL SESSIONS Ready + Resilient Year-End Learning Series
Date: December 1, 2020
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST
Event Description:
We are months into the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’ve each struggled to manage its ongoing impact both at work and on the home front. Coming on the heels of these challenges and ongoing uncertainty is the upcoming holiday season (and all its usual pressures). As we move toward closing out 2020, the skill to navigate this particularly stressful context is needed like never before.
Join the ChamberRVA community and our partners at The Frontier Project for a three-part leadership series designed to equip you to face 2021 ready and resilient.

Session #1 - Navigating Our Changing Reality
December 1st from 10am – 12PM

Let’s be real: 2020 has been a doozy. For the first time ever, profound change upended all our lives, at the same time. And the changes keep on coming, both at work and at home.

In this session, we’ll reflect on how we’ve shown up to date to gain a better understanding of this experience and our reactions to it. We’ll use this perspective and new tools to grow our ability to mindfully respond (instead of knee-jerk reacting) to better navigate the next chapter of this challenging season.
  •  Naming, normalizing, and putting into perspective the collective vulnerability and grief we have experienced/are continuing to experience
  • Understanding the neuroscience at play and reality checking your expectations
  • Getting (re)grounded: Your top values
  • Responding mindfully vs. reacting emotionally
  • Practicing and iterating on wellbeing
  • Redefining productivity

Session #2 -The Balancing Act
December 8th from 10am – 12PM

Work-life balance is not a new concept. And, employers have taken huge steps to support it for their people. Yet even with things like flexible work hours and ample vacation time, burnout is still an issue. For many of us, it feels harder now than ever, and we’re asking ourselves, “Will I ever get there?”

In this session, we’ll share mindsets and habits to help you take a more balanced view of balance. Spoiler alert. It starts with us. We have to determine the places where we want to invest more time and energy, so we feel confident saying yes, comfortable saying no, and understand the tradeoffs we’re making in the process.
  • Work/life balance vs. integration
  • The power of personal agency
  • Aligning time to goals
  • Practicing calendar reality
  • Energy management + pop-up rules for home
  • Setting expectations + pop-up rules for your teams/calls

Session #3 - Designing Moments of Connection
December 15th from 10am – 12PM

We’ve all felt it. Our teams miss connecting with each other like they used to, and for many of us, virtual happy hours are no longer hitting the mark. Something that we can so easily and organically do in person has been a much bigger challenge in our current context, with our current isolation.

The good news is that the things that create meaningful connection don’t actually depend on physical proximity or co-location. In this session, we’ll help you rethink and redesign moments of connection with your team. You likely already have all the ingredients–it’s just a matter of finding ways to switch up the recipe.
  • Acknowledging and naming what’s missing in our WFH reality
  • Highlighting the power of norms, psychological safety, and vulnerability on a team
  • Using story in your communications to help your team process and stay productive
  • Intentionally designing virtual moments of connection for your team, letting content/purpose dictate design and timing
