ChamberRVA is excited to introduce the Shared Values Summit, a four-part series to connect across the region – and across sectors – for discussions about what matters to us as a community. Along with our community partners and investors, we've assembled more than 20 local and national leaders to ignite our shared thinking about Richmond's history, our culture of philanthropy, opportunities to amplify minority business growth, and the power of economic mobility.
SESSION #1: Reframing History in the South – Thursday, October 29, 2 – 4 p.m.
We’ll kick off the series with Bill Martin (the Valentine Museum), Christy Coleman (the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation), Richmond artist Hamilton Glass, and Mike Neal and Kuma Roberts from the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce for a series of discussions about the power of learning and responding to new stories about our history – in order to create a stronger, more inclusive community.

SESSION # 2: Turning Philanthropic Purpose into Meaningful Practice – Thursday, November 5, 1 – 3 p.m.
Our second session is a call for reinvention, and for a better understanding of the communities we aspire to serve and support. Mark Kramer (FSG Consulting, Boston), Robert Dortch (Robins Foundation, UJIMA Legacy Fund), Albert Walker (Richmond Memorial Health Foundation), Jill Coleman (Cameron Foundation, SisterFund) and Stephanie Glenn (the Community Foundation for a greater Richmond) will discuss new approaches to philanthropy that more clearly respond to issues facing Black and Brown communities, more fully engage those affected by the issues in the solution, and underscore the importance of working across sectors to achieve impact.

SESSION #3: Accelerating Minority Business Investment and Development – Thursday, November 12, 1 – 3 p.m.
Our third session will focus on the challenges and opportunities associated with building a business community that reflects our values – and the diversity of our region. Moses Foster (West Cary Group), Charis Jones (Sassy Jones), Melody Short (MBL, Richmond Night Market, The Jackson Ward Collective), Johnathan Mayo (Mama J’s, Team Excel), Leah Fremouw (Virginia Community Capital, GO Virginia State Board), Liz Doerr (Sandbox, Women in Venture), Brian Argrett (City First Bank) and Brynn Plummer (Nashville Entrepreneur Center) will explore new ways to grow and expand access to resources – in all forms – to help unleash new entrepreneurial opportunities across the region.

SESSION #4: Regional Leadership on Economic Mobility and Inclusive Growth – Friday, November 20, 9 – 11 a.m.
Our final session boasts five powerful local and national voices who will help deepen our understanding of racial and economic inequities. Tom Barkin (Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond), Dr. Raphael Bostic (Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta), Melody Barnes (UVA Democracy Initiative), Reggie Gordon (City of Richmond) and Greta Harris (Better Housing Coalition) will discuss how communities are addressing complex issues like affordable housing, transportation and education to improve economic outcomes – and how new approaches could create more opportunity for all Richmonders.
